Just bear in mind that you’ve made a step in the right direction, and that the situation will be settled at some point soon.
THE TAX RESOLUTION PROCESS:
New clients are invited to call or visit for a free consultation, where one of our seasoned Tax Consultants will review your situation and discuss the possible options available to you. Consultations typically last an hour. However, some cases may lack enough information to determine a course of action within the first meeting.
1. Retaining Our Services: Upon your decision to retain our services, you will be required sign a Retainer Agreement letter and give payment. At this point, we file a Power of Attorney (POA) with the IRS. This is an immediate relief for you; from now on IRS will no longer be contacting you. All communication is now required to go through us. Should they contact you after this stage, tell them to contact LTG directly and give them our phone number. A separate POA will be filed for any State tax problems.
2. Taking the First Steps: Your case will be assigned to a case manager, either a Tax Attorney or Certified Public Accountant. Throughout the process, your case manager can be reached by phone, email or in person. A team of technical specialists works with our case managers; you may also have contact with them as we work through your case. As a team, we will devise a plan of action for resolving your case. You will be advised regarding the steps you should take to ensure the best results.
3. IRS Compliance: A prerequisite of tax resolution is your transition into a “compliant taxpayer”. With the assistance of your case manager, you will file delinquent tax returns and demonstrate that you are consistent with your current tax payments. If your records are incomplete, we will assist you in preparing tax returns for immediate filing. This is not a simple process, but your case manager is more than able to help you through it.
4. Negotiation: After you have established yourself as a compliant taxpayer, we will approach the IRS with a proposal of settlement that is viable for you and has a good chance of being accepted. In this regard, we have been highly successful; we take pride in our high tax relief rate and work hard to get you the best settlement within your means, and within the law. Bear in mind that most proposals are not accepted immediately. Resolution usually is the result of patience, diligence, a consistent communication with the I.R.S. Your case manager will monitor the process and ensure that the I.R.S. has all the information required to reach a decision. Should the I.R.S. provide an unsatisfactory response to the proposed resolution, your case manager will negotiate on your behalf.
5. Resolution: Once the final resolution between you and the I.R.S, has been established, we will review it to ensure that both sides are in agreement. If not, we will firmly hold that the resolution reflect the agreed-upon terms. If the IRS resists, we will offer you further advisement about other possible options. Once the case has been settled, we will advise you once more in how to maintain your end of the agreement and avoid tax problems in the future.
